My dad has baseball cards coming out of his ears. He has been collecting them since he was a kid and he has a wall of them. It is more than a wall. The cards stack up about 5 1/2 feet tall, about 6 feet wide, and about 4 or 5 feet deep. Thousands of them. I am trying to take a crash course in cards so we know what to do with them.
He told all his buddies at the diner that he was going to sell them at a garage sale and people started showing up at his house. He sold a bunch, including some autographed ones for $250.00. Did I mention he used to live by the baseball stadium and skipped school when he was a kid to get autographs?
Here is one we found going through his stuff. He bought it in the early 70's for $25.00 (which was a lot of money then) along with a bunch of other cards in a cigar box from a guy he knew. The guy was selling his farm and told my dad he bought the card in the early 1910's. The guy put it in plastic and my dad encased it in plexi glass right after he purchaced it. So according to my dad, only 2 people have ever touched it. I picked up some magazines on prices of cards, but a lot of his are not in the mags. So now I am going to start hunting the internet and hope to find info there. I think I will be busy for a while. Later......
